Stage 4: 8.1~8.16

It was at this stage when I felt pretty vulnerable. I found it very hard to convey what I really wanted to say. It’s like someone is literally clapping a hand on my mouth metaphorically and I felt completely helpless. Still, I didn’t stop investigating on Reddit and doing and redoing iterative interventions.

I just don’t want to feel like I’m doing this project just for an assignment and for grades. This is probably the only time I’ll get concrete feedback on my trials and errors and messy failures, so against my instinct to hide them I chose to copy-paste them on this part of the blog.(It was originally scattered on less public places like Wechat and a small written journal I kept)

This knowledge has been fruitful by me searching for anti-fandom chats and comments and communicating with ppl who are anti-fandom to do that. Previous tutorials suggested that I had been holding back on my work and had only been “preaching to the converted”, in other words, telling people who are already friendly with fan-created content that fan-fics should not be mis-interpreted.

basically anti-fandom ppl are anti-fandom for a very valid reason…(I HAVE been preaching to the converted.) so…I need to find anti-fandom ppl and challenge their perceptions on fanfics.
Or do the opposite

The reason I did this intervention anyway was because I had to take action to let myself feel the courage of doing an intervention first.

Redirecting my research after the Intervention

Let’s just say that the fan-fics and fan art that I read and saw was wayyyy tooo pure compared with the fan-fics that causes the “misconceptions” to the outsiders. https://www.reddit.com/r/FanFiction/comments/n0qt6o/is_it_illegal_to_write_explicit_fan_fiction_of/

After I read this, I was like: should there be rules? There are explicit grey areas in this realm that could potentially hurt innocent people who just wants to be creative in what they thought was a safe space.

Should fan-fic, in pornographic areas, be legal? Fan-fic rules are loose. Very Loose.

So should the measure be to “clarify”? So that potential pedophiles don’t get their chance to commit crime on a site that is supposed to be a safe space?

Made this to boost my own courage and posted it on Instagram. (8.8)
